A skier starting at the age of nine, Michael Ankeny became a junior race winner at 10 and earned a spot on the U.S. Development Team prior to the 2009 season. Now a U.S. Championships medalist and World Cup starter, the next stop is World Cup points and a major championship team.
Despite some good NorAm results and back-to-back wins at a "classic" FIS race in Wisconsin, Ankeny's 2013 season wasn't what he expected. A nagging shoulder injury turned out to be less of a nag and more of a serious pain in the…well, shoulder for Ankeny. He went under the knife in April of 2013 to make sure it stays in its socket for the 2014 season.
