Development Team

The Development Team operates under the guidance of the U.S. Ski Team, yet it represents the pinnacle of the junior development pipeline. The purpose of the development team is to field a team that is best in the world at the junior level. The measure of best in the world has been the World Junior Championships success. Selection to the development team is done in May on an annual basis and is done based off of the USST nomination criteria. Selection to the World junior Team is done through annually developed World Junior Criteria with an emphasis on performance in the current season, or experience for future medal potential.

Statement of Development Team Goals

  • Top 3 in Hodler Trophy Standings at World Junior Championships
  • 2 medals at the World Junior Championships
  • Assist National Teams in securing 3/4 of World Cup Quota spots through NorAms
  • 2 Junior athletes / gender secure a World Cup Quota spot through NorAms
  • 2 Junior athletes / gender qualify to the National Team through criteria
